Cross week of June 8

Here are a couple updates since I last wrote. First, as you are no doubt aware, our state has opened up some this past week. The good news is that coaches are now allowed to be with the kids once again. Because there are some protocols and procedures we need to adhere to, we will meet at the stadium at school for our summer training. I am working with Jason Heerema to make sure we follow all MHSAA guidelines for training. Our training will begin Monday, June 15 at 8:00AM and go until about 10:00AM. All summer sessions are optional until official practices begin in mid August. Please have your son or daughter arrive on time so we can take a temperature scan and have them fill out a screening. I’m not sure how often the screening will need to be filled out right now, but it looks like temps will need to be taken daily for some time. I’m sure there will be more procedures that I’ll learn about this week. Bathrooms at the stadium will be open, but have your child bring his/her own water bottle. Thanks for understanding with these new “rules.”
Second, here is a camp update. As I mentioned last week, it looks right now like camps throughout the state will be opened up on June 22, so we are hopeful that includes kids overnight camps like ours. I also mentioned that we need 30 middle schoolers and 40 high schoolers at camp to pay our bills. We need those numbers by June 22 or I will be forced to cancel camp. Numbers right now stand at 7 middle school campers and 19 high school campers. If your child wants to attend camp, please register soon so we can reach our numbers. Forms can be found at  Thanks!! I’ll not cash any checks until camp is confirmed. If camp is cancelled, your check will be mailed back.
I am very excited to once again be coaching cross country. I’ve really missed the kids and you, and can’t wait to get back into our practices and eventually meets this fall. Please email me with any questions.
