Cross Week of 8-31

It was great to compete again yesterday at Benzie. We only wish the entire team could have attended. We love the race and look forward to everyone running there next season.
While we have no meets this week, we still have some information for you for this week and the weeks to come. First, we will practice at Gainey again this Wednesday after a day of on line school. Practice will be from 3:30-5:30. Once again, please park at COS and walk in.
Because we are off school both Friday and  next Monday, Labor Day, we will have no organized team practices on those days. Kids will be shown a schedule of what to do each day, and should follow it at closely as possible. The practice plan will be posted at so kids can view it there. In fact, they can see practice plans for most any day right there. I usually write them up the night before.
We have several home meets coming up that will again require parent help to run the meet. I have kept the volunteer sign up list and will continue to work down it in order of you signing up. I will contact you the week of the meet. Our next home meet is an OK White Jamboree. It is varsity only (  8 per team ). It is on Wednesday, September 9. The following Wednesday, the 16th, is the JV portion of that meet. For both meets, we will use the new course to allow helpers lots of opportunities to see the races while working. For both races, boys run at 4:30 and girls at 5:15.
We also help host the Cougar/Falcon/Eagle race at the Gainey on Saturday, September 26. At this point, we are not allowing spectators, and we will be using the original 5K course. If you’d like to help at this meet, please contact me ASAP. The areas needing help are:
-parking lot attenders, directing busses in,  – team escorts, – packet pick up help, – rest room sanitizer between sessions, – awards distributer, – finish line worker.  We are fortunate that we can run 21 kids in this meet. ( 21 boys and 21 girls.) We will run the first two races of the day for 7 kids, and the last two races of the day for the other 14. Race times are boys varsity at 8:00. Girls varsity at 8:20.  Boys JV at 2:00 and Girls JV at 2:20. As you can see, this is a long day, but we need to empty the venue before allowing the next racers into Gainey. If you volunteer, you will not need to work the whole day. We would like you to commit to two sessions though. The first 2 sessions will run from 7:15 to 11:00 with the second two going from 11:00 to 3:00. Meeting all the COVID protocols is challenging, but we are competing!
Thanks again for your support in every way. We really appreciate it and ask your continued prayers, Doug
