Track week of 5-27

Parents:
It was a great day in Zeeland Friday as the boys team finished 3rd in the MITCA team state finals! There were lots of great performances. Complete results, as always, can be found at athletic.net  Here are details for our last week of the season:
– 1) The MHSAA state finals are right back at Zeeland on Saturday. We are still working on transportation for the meet, but will keep the kids informed. The field event begin at 9:30 ( although we don’t have any athletes in field events this year). The 4×800 starts at 10:00, followed by prelims in the 100, 110 hurdles, and 200. All running finals we begin at 1:00. The meet hosts anticipate the final event, the 4×400, at about 4:00. We qualified a boys 4×800 team, a boys 4×100 team, Thad in the 100 meter dash, Charles in the 110 hurdles, and Zach in the 300 hurdles. Madelyn qualified in both the 1600 and 3200. The top 8 in each event earn all state. Complete information on the meet can be found at the MHSAA web site. For those competing in the meet Saturday, we will have practice Tuesday-Friday. As school has exams this week, kids need to  check with their event coach on when they will practice. 4×800 team and Madelyn will get with coach Hoekstra. 4×100 team will get with coach Peterson. Hurdlers will get with coach Merrell.
– 2) All those not participating MUST turn their uniform(s) in. For those who ended last week Friday, and have not turned their uniform in, school has been notified and they will not be allowed to take exams until they have done this. The kids had 4 days last week in which to turn in their uniform. For those who have not, please get them to coach Peterson’s room on Tuesday before your first exam. For those who just ended on this past Friday, please also turn in your uniform to coach Peterson who will check your name off the list. For those still participating this Saturday, please return your uniform at our banquet on Monday, June 3.
– 3) As mention above, the banquet will be Monday, June 3. Because the AC gym is being refinished, and our team size prevents us from fitting in several spaces at GRCHS, we are going to try something new this year. The banquet will take place in the stadium. We hope to have food tables on the mall area and have parents sit in the stands, with athletes on the infield. We will use the stadium sound system for our brief program. The banquet will begin at 6:30 sharp. We will supply a main course and plates, napkins, and forks. Please bring a salad or dessert to share, and bring your own drink. Please note to bring your own drink as this is new as well. In the event of rain, we hope to move to the Quest.
Thanks for your prayerful support all year! We really appreciate it. See you Saturday at Zeeland, or June 3 at the banquet,
Doug
