Happy Mother’s Day to all of you team moms! We just completed a busy week of track that ended with the boys winning the OK Gold conference meet and securing first place. The girls finished 5th in a very good league. Although we still have a league meet tomorrow, the results don’t matter as our position for both teams will not change no matter the outcome. Because of that, we will be resting some of our kids who are in need of a break. We once again have a busy schedule this week. Here are the details:
Monday – Our postponed meet will happen at Wayland High School. As always, field events start at 4:00 and running at 4:45. Some kids will be dismissed early from school (2:30) to get the meet on time and allow for warming up. Others will leave right after school.
Thursday – Our JV conference meet at home. Any who did not score in last weeks conference final and are not in the Regional meet will compete here. This will be the final meet of the season for most, but not all JV members. We are anticipating the boys team will be invited to the MITCA team finals where we can enter 3 kids in each event. We don’t think the girls team will get invited this year as we are not ranked high enough to get an invite. Our varsity kids will be expected to help at the JV meet to help it go smoothly and encourage our JV members to a season ending PR.
Friday – Our Regional Meet at FHE. We return to FHE with field events beginning at 1:45. The 4×800 will happen at 2:15, followed by prelims in this order – 100 meters, 100/110 high hurdles, 200 meters. Running finals are slated to start at 5:00. Again, kids will be dismissed early from school.
I mentioned the MITCA team state earlier. The meet will be held at Zeeland HS on Friday, May 24. ( NOT SATURDAY this year.) I believe this is high schools final regular day of school, and although I have not seen a schedule yet, I believe it will begin around 1:30.
Finally, next week I will try to nail down details for our team banquet. I’m hopeful to do it the week of June 2.
Thanks again for your support in prayer and every other way! We really appreciate it, Doug
