Cross week of Sept 19

Parents: It was a most  pleasant day a MSU to watch the kids run and then a free Saturday to enjoy! The boys varsity finished in 3rd place, the highest place we have ever achieved since going to the Elite Division.  Now we move to a busy week for our school with two home meets.  Our meet on Wednesday is OK Gold Jamboree #2. Boys race at 4:45 and girls at 5:15. Because it is at Gainey, no school buses will be used. All team members need to be at Gainey by 3:15. Parents: Here is info for this week in cross country: Most all of the kids have received their long sleeve dry-fit shirt. If they have not yet paid, they are $10.00. Please get the money in as soon as possible. Thanks! Monday morning is once again optional weights. Meet at 7:15. Done by 8:15. We’ve been getting about 40 kids per day.  We’ve used some gift account money for three things so far this year. One is a new awards board for those earning all state in cross country. There are 22 of our alumni that have earned this since 1991. Each year I will add the names of those who earn it. ( After they graduate, because the year(s) are listed too.) The second purchase is new mile and kilometer markers for our home course. You will see them at our races this week. Finally, your child may have told you we are getting sports drinks each day after our run. By working at the eagle fest, we earned $500.00 for the team. I’ve dedicated the whole $500.00 for these treats, provided the kids pick up each day. ( We’ve missed a couple days when rollers or other things have been left out.)  Your child may have told you about the foot locker race in Wisconsin. Foot locker is a fun event we offer to the kids on Thanksgiving weekend. We leave on Friday morning and return on Saturday evening. I have made information sheets for the kids to take home if you’d like. The cost for the trip is $75.00 per person plus race entry and two meals. ( Breakfast is included at the hotel.) If your child is going, please make the check out to Doug Jager.  Finally, we host a large meet on Saturday, the Cougar/Falcon at the Eagle’s Nest. Again, because it is a home meet, there will be no transportation to the meet or back to school. Please have your child at Gainey by 8:15. Please be advised, there will be a parking fee of $10.00 per car. Please car pool. Parking will be very tight. Do not try to enter at East Paris and park in the Gainey lot, rather opt for the COS lot and walk in.  Here is the race schedule for the day:Boys varsity at 9:45Girls varsity at 10:15Boys JV at 10:45Girls JV at 11:15Boys & Girls Freshmen at 11:45 ( Unless they are running in the varsity race.)Awards at 12:10If you have volunteered to work at this meet, please arrive at Gainey between 6:30 and 7:00. Report to the check in table near the concessions and you will be given your assignment. Thanks so much for helping. I know this is an early day for a weekend.  Thank you again for your support in every way! We really appreciate your prayers!Doug
