Cross Week of 9-16

It was nice to have Saturday off, after  Friday’s meet at MSU. We now have our first week with two meets. Here are the details for those meets:
First, on Wednesday, we have jamboree # 1 in the OK Gold Conference. We travel back to South Christian for this meet. We will have two buses depart school about 3:00, but only one return bus. The boys all run together at 4:45, and the girls all run together at 5:15. As always, kids need to cool down together before leaving. ( We also like to do some core drills together after meets.) Thanks for giving us time to get these things in.
Meet number two is the first of our large home meets at the Gainey. We host approximately 40 high school teams, plus many middle school teams. Because it is a home meet, we will NOT have any school transportation.  All kids need to arrive by 7:45. This is important to get timing chips distributed. This meet also features two rather unique things. First, we are allowed to run 10 kids in the varsity race. Second, there is a separate race for Freshman who don’t run the varsity race. Here are race details for the day:
7:45 – All kids must arrive.
9:45 – Boys Varsity race
10:15 – Girls Varsity race
10:45 – Boys JV race
11:15 – Girls JV race
11:45 – Freshman race ( boys & girls together)
12:10 – Awards
For those who signed up to help at this meet, please arrive by 6:30 and check in at the volunteers table for your assignment. Thanks so much for helping. Hosting large meets takes lots of help, but at least we don’t need to travel out of town.
We continue to offer our Monday morning option to run. Remember, because we do our long run most Monday’s, arrive in time to begin running at 6:30. Those running in the morning still practice in the afternoon, but we have them focus on drills and weight lifting.
Kids have been signing up for our Foot Locker trip on Thanksgiving weekend. The cost is $80.00 per person and can be paid any time now. Cost includes motor coach, hotel, and breakfast. Remember to also sign up for the race at ( midwest regional. Don’t get the pasta dinner)
Finally, you may have heard our devotions on Tuesday focuses on prayer, as we pray together in groups of four, plus an adult mentor. We pray from 3:15 – 3:30, and it has been encouraging to see/hear this. If any of you can join us any Tuesday, we’d love it. If not, you can always join us in prayer at that same time where ever you are then.  Thanks for your prayers and great support, Doug
